After a crime is committed, the day after the arrest the accused will be brought into court for a hearing. If the judge is not available any clerk (mod) or Councilman may stand in for the duty. After the crime the accused may be sentenced to community service, being sold as a slave to pay for their crimes, or, in an extreme case: execution.
Jail space is limited, we need not overfill the prisons with useless bodies.
After an arrest it is the arresting officer's job to send a hearing notice (post it here) to the Courthouse. It will be received by the day after via post and a summons sent for the accused.
