Now I know with all the weird terminology it is difficult to really determine what an OC is and what a Canon character is.
First off ALL characters started as ORIGINAL CHARACTERS, but in terms of media and roleplaying, an OC is considered an intellectual property that has not yet been registered or published in public media.
But lately there have been, much as the case of Indie Game popularity, a surge of characters published but unrecognized by companies as main stream work.
This does not change the rules of roleplaying or media design that these are not your OCs. If you did not make the character it is not your intellectual property to use unless the roleplay is dedicated to the use of characters created by other artists, such as X-Men roleplay or Harry Potter. All media characters began as OCs but that is no excuse to say they are OC, so you can use them. You did not design them so they are not YOUR OC, thus you may not use them in this dream.
This has been posted to clear up any difficulties that may present themselves with the change of mass media that is fast approaching us.
